We are offering an Adult Bible Study Program for Fall 2024
Unlocking the Mysteries of the Bible, a Survey Course
All adult parish members are invited to participate in an eight-week Bible study program. We will be using Unlocking the Mysteries of the Bible, a cover-to-cover Bible survey course, from Genesis through Acts, published by Ascension Press. The program is running from October 15 to November 20 for the first six weeks, and the last two session will be held either in December or January for the last two.
WHY: The goal of the program is to grow in faith and to gain an overall understanding of the Bible, grounded in salvation history and how we fit into God’s plan. In other words, it is food for the soul! As Catholics, part of the wealth of our faith is the Word. We are all invited to take a personal journey of exploration into the riches of our faith.
WHEN: We are offering the program at two time slots:
- For those who prefer a daytime program, we will meet Tuesday mornings, from 10 am to 11:30 am.
- For those who prefer an evening session, we will meet on Wednesday nights, from 7 pm to 8:30 pm.
Both sessions will meet in the Parish Center at St. Thomas
WHAT: Bring a Bible. You will also need the workbook – either paper or online. A rather good workbook accompanies a video lecture, with Bible passages assigned to read for each session. If you choose the paper version supplied by the parish, we are asking for a suggested free-will donation of $35 for the entire 8-week course. This will help to defray the expenses of the paper workbooks and leader supplies. alternatively, you can purchase on-line access to the videos and workbook for one-year for $5.95, directly from Ascension Press HERE

How will I benefit from Bible Study?
Bible study is not just a “nice to do” exercise – rather, it is a transformative experience that will touch every aspect of your life. For one evening a week, and 10 minutes a day, you will deepen your relationship with God and receive everything good that flows from that. As Catholics, we rarely study the Bible as a cohesive whole. This course will allow you to open the treasure chest of your faith – and better understand how the readings during mass fit into God’s salvation plan for all of us.

Do I have time for Bible Study?
YES, you will have the time. Obviously you get out what you put into any activity. The course is designed to have some daily readings and a robust video lecture and group discussion once a week. As long as you can make one of the two weekly sessions offered, you have the time.
